"Beyond Improvisation: PLAY" Beethoven, Blues, and Improvisation

Sarah Infini Takagi gives a lecture-performance with Dana Gooley on approaching the Beethoven “Waldstein” sonata with a sense of “PLAY”: Improvising on the 1st mvmt ( classical style), then transforming the 2nd mvmt into a Blues ( Dana on piano, Sarah, voice), then continuing onto a funky Jazz arrangement of the 3rd mvmt. Sarah will also talk about applying the sense of Play to how we perform, interpret and present our music by thinking out of the box, and bringing in elements from other genres/disciplines. Piano Performance Seminar. Williams Hall, New England Conservatory of Music.

10-12 pm. Free Admission
